The 9th annual Wine & Art Festival was held Feb. 22, 2014.
Thank you to all who attended, all who worked tirelessly, all who poured their hearts into this event for our precious school. Words spoken by St. Francis of Assisi encompass what our Wine & Art Festival is truly all about. May we all be artists in all we do. May God continue to bless Sacred Heart Catholic School, for the children are our greatest gift. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
A man who works with his hands is a labourer.
A man who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
A man who works with his hands, his head, and his heart is an artist.
—St. Francis of Assisi
It was a stellar evening enjoying fine wine, art, and food with friends. The Sacred Heart School's ninth annual Wine & Art Festival was held Saturday, Feb. 22, in the Floresville Event Center on S.H. 97 West. The community came together to appreciate a variety of artworks by a range of contributors, including many local artists and artisans. The festival featured complimentary wine selections and a gourmet meal by Lois Ferguson Tymrak. On the menu was a choice of smothered chicken or roast beef, served with country potatoes and green beans. Hors d'oeuvres were enjoyed throughout the evening. Delicious desserts also completed the elegant dining experience.
A silent auction included myriad selections, including crafts, along with a Cracker Barrel rocking chair, a potato cannon, custom wine rack, hammer-forged knives, and limited-edition art — large and small! The live art auction, run by auctioneer Albert Faktor, included a limited original hand-embellished giclee on canvas portrait of Texas Ranger H.R. Lefty Block by master painter and former Texas State Artist Jack White, a resident of Floresville. White's wife, Mikki Senkarik, a renowned artist whose works are highly collectible, also contributed.
Proceeds from this event benefited Sacred Heart School in Floresville, which has provided area families with a quality education since 1933. The school, currently serving 83 students from 3K through the sixth grade, offers small class sizes in a faith-based environment.
